I think your solution makes a lot of sense. The problem is that I have a fannish identity to maintain here--I can't strictly segregate my fangirling to Somewhere Else. Certain aspects of it, maybe, but since I think publicly about fandom as my real self, I have to have an online place to do it. And, having a real-name LJ is protection against certain forms of wank, from what I've heard. (Forgive the intentional obscurity, but you know what I'm talking about.)
I wish I had friends I could go drinking with out here...unfortunately, my life isn't really arranged like that. :/ Thanks for the hugs, though.
